I attended the community art expo, inside- ART, at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre. There were not as many people as expected, however the day was good for networking. Although there were not many sales, I handed out leaflets about my workshops.
My friends Merryl Snowden and Philomena Masters also had stalls at the event

Yacht wrecked at Eglinton beach, nr Yanchep
I took these photo’s of the stricken yacht washed up on the Eglinton Beach. While I was there, I met Dennis Pallas, who had spent the night in Joondalup hospital and had now come back to his yacht to salvage what he could. I helped Dennis carry the few items away from the yacht as the waves started to wash pound against the hull. He told me has been looking for his dog who was swept away with the huge waves.
Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group found the yacht on Eglinton beach. One of our boats was dispatched to retrieve the EPIRB which Dennis Pallas set off last night as his yacht Thetis II ran into trouble near the Alkimos Reef in a storm.
Local TV news channels described the event: A 73-year-old French man is lucky to be alive after running into trouble in his yacht off Eglinton beach in last night’s wild storm. Denis Pallas’s 11m vessel Thetis II lost its sail and started taking on water before being washed ashore south of Yanchep. The man and his dog were on board the 11.6m yacht when it lost power, forcing him to make a mayday call about 6.45pm. Water police advised the man to activate his EPIRB, which placed his yacht on or near Alkimos Reef. Conditions at the time were wild, with wind gusts of 104kmh recorded 15km south at Ocean Reef about 6.20pm.

Two Rocks Marine Rescue investigate flare sightings off coast
On Sunday night our group were dispatched to search for a possible boat in distress as there were reports of distress flares being sighted off the coast near Yanchep. Winds were not strong but swells were high as I took the helm on Sea Guardian II through a safe passage to the outer reef.
We did a grid search for a couple of hours but found nothing.

Encaustic Workshop
Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which coloured pigments are added. However, the diversity of this medium offers the artist opportunity to include many mixed media techniques such as such as collage, image transfer and textural painting.
I’m really excited about these forthcoming workshops. I plan to introduce my students to this wonderful medium.
Patricia Baldwin Seggebuch is returning to WA to conduct advanced classes later in the year. So these introductory classes are a great way to learn and then take the advance class with Patricia.
