Fremantle Sailing Club - George Law Foundation Race

On Saturday 3rd October I was a member of the crew on Anastasia competing in Fremantle Sailing Club's George Law foundation Race. This is an offshore race of about 24 nautical miles. I was really excited as this was my first 'race'. The course took us towards Rottenest, Garden Island then down Gage Roads to Fremantle.

Just before the start, as we sailed to the starting buoy we were thrown handlfuls of lolly 'snakes'. Apparently this is becoming a tradtion at the start of the race.

We were second in our division. Although we were fast we had a large handicap.
Great race, very exciting.
