I am teaching a few silver jewellery workshops this year for UWA Extension Short courses. They are at Taylors college in Claremont, a beautiful historic building. The original buildings were the State's first post-secondary teaching institution which opened in 1902 – Claremont Teachers College.
The students were enthusiastic about making the silver pendants and earrings with good results.

A day of sadness
Today I attended the funeral service of Jasmine Moohen, who lost the battle against cancer. Hundreds of mourners paid tribute to this brave little girl. RIP Jasmine.

Dichroic Glass & Silver Workshop
A weekend of fun and creativity with two Mum’s and their daughters making dichroic
glass cabochons (glass slumping in the kiln) and then setting them into silver
the next day.
Here the students are cutting pieces of glass and assembling them on a kiln shelf ready to go into the kiln. As the glass begins to get hot it ‘slumps’ to form rounded edges.
Next the students wrapped the glass with silver metal clay and they went back into the kiln.

The glass cabochons just out of the kiln.

The finished jewellery ready to wear.
