Swimming with the Whale Sharks

The whale shark is the largest fish in the sea, can reach lengths of 12 meters or more.  The shark’s massive body, broad flattened head, rounded dorsal fin and crescent-shaped tail are decorated with a ‘checkerboard’ pattern of light spots and stripes on a darker background. These markings may serve as camouflage from predators in the dappled light of the ocean and are used to identify individual animals.
We booked a day tour with Ocean Eco Adventure Tours in Exmouth and had a really good day with them.

Cape Range National Park

On the way to Exmouth, Fosse, Kev and I went for a drive through Cape Range National Park. Spectacular scenery of the gorges.
     
     

My Birthday in Coral Bay

I’m spending a week’s holiday with my sister in law Fosse and her partner Kev. We have travelled north and are staying at coral Bay and then going to Exmouth. We all love to snorkel and here the Ningaloo Reef comes close to the shore with it’s amazing fish and coral.

I took some amazing photos with my underwater camera. The whole area is a marine park and the fish are not scared of people swimming near them.

TRYCAN - Two Rocks & Yanchep Community Art Network

I teach once a month at the Capricorn Community House in Yanchep. This Saturday I had a polymer clay class in the morning and drawing zentangles in the afternoon.

 
The polymer clay class was an adaptation of a well known and published technique called torn paper. Thin layers of coloured polymer sheets are literally torn and placed on a background, simple eh?  Maggi Maggio describes this in her water colour tutorial here (Click on link). As some of my students are new to working with polymer clay, I adapted the method to suit the students, who did a fantastic job with their beads.
     
The afternoon session was all about drawing patterns. Patterns that are repeatedly drawn in a rhythm. The drawing of patterns in this way is called Zentangling. A Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns as described on the Zentangle website. Anyone can do it, its easy and fun to do.
