Cavalia - Perth

My Friend Mary and I went along to Belmont Racecourse. It was stunning.

It's a highly visual show and behind the curtain, a fairy tale kingdom was revealed, featuring  an evaporating stream, falling rain, snow and autumn leaves and a constantly changing background projected onto a 60 metre-wide screen. The horses  freely roll around on the wide stage lapping up the audience's applause. Some of the horses seem almost shy, tilting their humble heads to catch a sneaky side glance, others make it known who is boss, nibbling and nudging other members of the herd to encourage them to fall in line behind them.  A live band performed on a four-metre-high platform behind the huge screen.

Open Gardens Australia

In Yanchep today Cynthia Sinclair’s garden was open to the public. I was invited to show my jewellery and hopefully get a few sales.
The garden is prolific in flowers, vegetables and shrubs. The limestone walls, paths and raised garden beds provide lots of nooks and crannies for plant growth. However being so close to the ocean, Cynthia has grown she-oaks,peppermint trees and Norfolk Pines to help combat the fierce winds off the ocean.

TRYCAN - Artist in Residency Exhibition - Wendy Lugg

The Two Rocks & Yanchep cultural Art Network had the exhibition at the closing of the residency artist Wendy Lugg . Wendy has been in Yanchep for a month working with the community in workshops and activities.

Many school children took part in making ‘sock dolls ‘ from old socks. There were printing workshops ranging from fabric printing, mono and collagraph printing as well as photography rambles. There was also a ‘pop up museum ‘where members of the community brought along items of interest and things that were  ‘made-do’.

Belmont Small Business Awards

Great Excitement!! I’m a finalist in the Belmont Small Business Awards. Ruth & I went to the “Night of Stars” Award Presentation Evening at the Perth Entertainment and Convention Centre.

Although I did not win my category of “Most Creative Small Business “  it was an achievement to be placed in the final selection.

Abalone Season at Yanchep Lagoon

It’s the first Sunday of the month and once again TRVMRG had a presence at the Yanchep Lagoon on patrol with the Yanchep Surf Lifesaving Group watching over the people collecting abalone from the reef.

It was low tide, which made it easier to get onto the reef but there were swells of up to 1.8mts washing over. Several people got into difficulties and the surf Lifesavers were quick to transport people back to shore on surf boards and surf skis.
