Hot Sultry Weather

The weather has been hot & humid for a few days. Temperatures have been as high as 45c in Bindoon and 29c at night. We've managed to cool down by swimming in the dam.
These pics were taken driving from the coast back to the farm.
I love the last photo. This old vehicle is on my neighbours farm. It was used to haul logs in the old days. I'll find out more about the history of it.

This the result a relaxing 'play', just playing with paints, powders and paper.
Now, back to 'real' work.

Skills of Blogging

I am not a happy bunny! Having previously changed to the 'new improved easier blogger' with its pretty templates, I realised that it didnt transfer my Loose Ends surf ring link or my sitemeter or my flicka pics. There are no instructions in the help section. Also Picasa doesnt always upload to the blog. Twice I have uploaded through Picasa adding photos and my descriptions, off they go uploading and then nothing.................what a waste of time . I am investigating Windows Live writer. Meanwhile I'll stay at the odd boring template and reduce my pics size in photoshop.
I see that some of my pics are missing in cyberspace as well.............

McNaught Comet

On Wednesday evening I took my camera, tripod, the dog and a hastely purchased pizza onto the dunes at Two Rocks. I had heard on the 6 o'clock news about a comet being seen over Perth. It is apparently viewed just after the sun sets. Well the sunset views were spectacular and then I waited for the comet to appear.............and I waited.............. I had forgotten to bring a jumper and the wind was really cold. I found a car rug and slung that round my shoulders. So here I am kneeling in the sand (the tripod legs refused to lock when extended), my zoom lens poised to the sky with the wind daring to rip my blanket away. Voila the comet. As the sky got darker the comet appeared brighter.

Work in Progress

This is a pic of my Orange Flowering Gum textile panel in progress.

Orange Flowering Gum

These are pics of the Orange Flowering Gum blossom. I stopped on the Gingin brook road and took some photos. The shire council have planted these trees on the road side. there are several different colours of blossom. At this time of the year the trees are in full blossom, quite spectacular as everything else is burning off to a dull brown with the heat.
Avoiding the numerous bees I 'stole' (one is NOT allowed to pick flora) a sprig of the blossom to take home and get some close up shots.

New Template

I signed up for the 'new blogger' and decided to have a new template. I dont particularly like it. I would like to have my own images instead of someone elses template. Now I have heard about a new blog software programme called Windows Livewriter from my cyberpal Liz . Its supposed to be an easier option for blogging so I've downloaded the programme and guess what I haven't had time to play yet. However watch this space, once I've had a play and if I find it easier to post images things may change. Of course I should be working on my website and preparing next years - no this years programme. I do find building and maintaining a web site tedious, mainly because I havent the time to learn the software programme. Time again.

Time

Have you enough time to do everything you need to do in one day?
I haven't, there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to fit everything in. Is it an age thing or a management thing? I try to prioritise certain things to do and the past week my blog has been put to the bottom of the list so that's why I haven't posted since last Monday. People sometimes ask 'what do you do all week?' I have to stop and think as the list is so long.
So, since I have last posted on my blog I have completed two textile panels for my April exhibition, written a submission to a magazine, started writing a tutorial for a polymer clay publication, confirmed my flight to Sydney for an Instructors conference in March, delivered carrots all round the countryside, packed & graded fruit and sold our fruit & vege when it was 38 degrees and today I did a casual workshop for 5 kids and their mums.

New Years Day

On New Year's Day we took the farm vehicle 'The Rhino' on the back of the truck to Lancelin off road area. From there we drove up the beach to Wedge Island about 15kms. It's a beautiful spot with fishing shacks and a few cray fishermen. However this is the busiest time of the year as many people are taking their holiday. We had fun driving up and down huge sand dunes and I took lots of photos with my new camera that Father Christmas brought me. For more photos view click here.

Picasa Bloging

I have downloaded Google's Picasa on my computer. This is an image file manager but also has a feature to allow posting to Blogger. I thought this would be useful as I could immediately post images without the hassle of diminishing the file size in Photoshop and then publishing. However the two posts I made through Picasa are somewhere in cyberspace and have not been published on my blog. So its back to 'saving for web' in photoshop till I get it sorted. Anyone with any ideas?
